If We Were Having Coffee…12/13/15

If we were having coffee…you would probably notice that it is warm enough to sit on the deck and visit. Strange, you might say. Isn’t New Jersey suppose to be much colder  in mid December? Dang right! I’d reply a little ill tempered! Even though I’m not much of a cold weather person, I do like a white Christmas, or at the very least- a cold one and this 70 degree stuff is seriously messing with my HOLIDAY MOOD!!!

Okay. I’m better now. How was your week? Did you gets a lot done? Did you make some fun memories? I hope so!

If we were having coffee…you would notice that (except for the weather) it’s a pretty typical December Sunday morning around here. Miss Dee is still ‘asnooze working those teenage sleep genes, Mr D is off selling Christmas trees, because the only thing that trumps the “sleep gene” is the “cash gene”, and Hubby is off to the Eagles football game with his pop. I, myself, am praying that the team that showed up last week, causing the Eagles to have an unexpected win, shows up again today instead of the other Eagles team that has been massacred the rest of the season. Things are always much more pleasant around here when the Eagles win so keep you fingers crossed for me. Okay?

Other than routing for an Eagles win, I will be spending my day wrapping presents, cleaning house, and catching up on my reading.

If we were having coffee…I would share that Miss Dee, who has taken to making gift by hand the last few Christmases will probably spend her day (once she rises) being crafty. She found some cool ideas on Pinterest and we spent yesterday at the dollar store and the thrift stores finding the things she needs. I really admire her thrifty nature, especially since she gets it directly from me! Her friends always love the things she makes and this year they are decorative items that will be perfect for dorm rooms if they go away to college next year

If we were having coffee…I would point out the interesting pattern of drips running down the kitchen window. This is probably the result of a 20 year old making food at 2am when his eyes are partially closed and since those drips are not going to clean themselves (although that might have a better chance of happening than the culprit cleaning them himself) I better stop my chatting and get moving!!

Thanks so much for stopping by. Hope you enjoyed your coffee! This post is part of the Weekend Coffee Share brought to you courtesy of Diana at Part Time Monster. Don’t forget to stop and visit the other coll folks over there!!

  1. Ahhh yes …. I remember those mysterious splatterings that would appear around the kitchen when I had 2 teenage boys at home. Fun times :/

  2. I always look forward to the snowy Christmas posts of my Northern Hemisphere friends, especially when we’re sweltering in 37C, but I’ve been bitterly disappointed so far. I’ll be keeping my fingers crossed for a white Christmas as much for me as for you!

  3. I think that other Eagles team you mentioned left you guys alone today and spirited itself down to Jacksonville to possess the Colts. It was such a miserable game (16 to 51, for Pete’s sake), I’m not sure I’m going to be able to watch the rest of this season. I did have both sons at home today watching with me while Mr. M was riding on a plane for yet another business trip, so at least I enjoyed seeing my boys.

I’m with Miss Dee—I have a couple of handmade gifts in mind that I’ll make this week, and I’m pretty excited about them. I really do like to make things. And I laughed at your description of the drips running down the kitchen window. I know that “interesting pattern” all too well! Have a nice week!

  4. You’re right about the weather in Jersey being crazy. I was out in shorts today and that doesn’t happen very often in December. Since I’m. Giants fan, things are always better for me when the Eagles, Cowboys and redskins lose..:)

  5. I love shopping at thrift shops and dollar stores and finding things that I can re-purpose. That thrift gene is wonderful, isn’t it? Especially when we can pass it on to our young ones!

  6. I keep intending to craft gifts for people, but I’ve got to work on my crafting skills a bit more before I do that. Luckily, there are a lot of shops around here with unique gifts for those of us who aren’t terribly crafty! lol

It’s unseasonably warm here in New Orleans, too. We don’t ever really have a white Christmas, but it is generally cooler than now–still in the 70s and some days the 80s.

    • It’s nice to be able to contribute to other people’s crafty endeavors!
I see things I would like to make but I know I never will!

      • haha…Yeah, there’s a lot of that. Some of it is far beyond not only the skill level I have but also the tools and materials. But it’s cool stuff.

  7. I’d wanted to do a certain crafty project, but I fear I’ll need to hit an actual craft store to get the supplies and I am sad. lol
Someone has spilled something down the front of my kitchen drawers and I cannot get it off! I’ve begun SANDING. At least it’s part of the kitchen I’ve not yet painted! Who paints kitchens with flat paint, ya know?!? I’m at my wit’s end about it, and of course, no one knows what happened…so I can relate to your mysterious window drips.
Our weather is also unseasonably warm. I slept with the windows open and there are two quilts hanging out at the end of the bed. They’re very confused. They thought it was their turn… 🙂
