First Line Fridays

This week’s first line is from…

Life of Pi

by Yann Martel

“My suffering left me sad and gloomy.

Academic study and the steady, mindful practice of religion slowly brought me back to life.”

This book was the January pick for my book club but is one I have wanted to read for a while anyway. So far, I’m finding it quite enjoyable.

  1. Welcome to First Line Fridays! We’re glad you’ve joined us!

Death had a way of creeping up on a soul, and Ivy Thorpe was determined that when it visited her, she would not be surprised.
The House on Foster Hill by Jaime Jo Wright

  2. Happy Friday!

My first line(s) is from the Prologue in Susan May Warren’s new book Troubled Waters, which I finished last night:

“Oh, this was a bad idea. Epically, abysmally, horrendously bad.”

    • So far it’s quite interesting. He seems to practice all religions taking whatever he feels benefits his piece of mind. He also grew up in the zoo his father ran in India so there are all kind of animal stories involved as well. Happy reading!
