If We Were Having Coffee…9/25/22 -Fall Has Arrived!

Good morning friends!

If we were having coffee…I would welcome you to a crisp fall day here in Southern NJ…finally! Don’t get me wrong, I love summer, especially the part where I get to stay home and play instead of going to work, but, I was dead tired of the heat and humidity. I felt like it was extra oppressive this summer. Perhaps my age is catching up with me! Anyway, on Friday the weather took a turn and today is a high of 79. The doors are open and the air-conditioned is off. Hallelujah!

What do you all have going for this fine Sunday? Our plan for today is simple. It is an Philadelphia Eagles game day, which is a major event for my husband and I suppose for the rest of the family too (but mostly my husband ūüôā ) so we will be watching this afternoon all suited up in our green and keeping our fingers crossed for a win. In between, I’ll do laundry, a bit of cleaning and basically catch up with my life. Today is a stay at home day. Yesterday I did my running around.

Running around was actually just a trip to the mall but it felt like a big deal because I don’t go that often anymore. I desperately hate shopping for myself and that’s what I was doing-nothing major, just a fall jacket and maybe some tops for work. So, I literally walked from one end of the mall to the other and I’ve come to the conclusion that my body and my taste are out of style. Nothing looked like something I would wear. Plus, and tell me if you all are finding this too, every store looked understocked and messy, which made the whole thing even more depressing. I understand that many places are understaffed (still trying to figure out where all the pre-pandemic workers have gone to. Don’t they still need to make money? I know I do. ) and that many people have gone to online shopping (hard to try stuff on that way) but still it was very discouraging. My dream would be to have a personal stylist fill my closet with clothes that I love and that fit me perfectly. Probably not going to happen, huh?

Oh well. It’s still a beautiful day and it’s time I got moving. Thanks for stopping by. Please let me know what you’ve all been up to and don’t forget to visit the rest of the Coffee Share Post and our host Natalie The Explorer.

If We Were Having Coffee…All Smiles Around Here

If we were having coffee...I would tell you that last night around eight, my husband noticed that his car had a flat tire. ¬†He also discovered that one of the headlights in Miss Dee’s Beetle was out. ¬†This was after Mr D had called him to say he needed someone to rescue him because he’d locked his keys in his car and after he’d cleaned up cat pee off the¬†carpet. ¬†But you know what? None of it mattered because the Philadelphia Eagles were heading for NFC Championship and as far as hubby was concerned all was right with the world!

Now, ¬†this morning when the temperature is around 18 degrees and the D-man is ¬†outside trying to maneuver the tiny wires out of the headlight while simultaneously running the air pump to pump up the tire ¬†enough so he can at least get it to the garage (coming inside every 10 minutes to warm up his hands) he might not feel quite so calm. ¬†We’ll see how it all plays out. ¬†I do know that last nights game was exciting and nerve wracking and if the Eagles hadn’t been able to pull it out things would have been a little different around here. Even Mr D knows that if they’d have lost he would rather have walked home than call his father to bring him his spare key.

Since I do realize that not everyone out there is a football fan (and to be honest, if I wasn’t married to the super fan himself, I wouldn’t be either) we can talk about other things while we enjoy our French roast. Speaking of which, I had a mini panic attack while trying to make coffee this morning because the Keurig was not cooperating. ¬†It just stared at me making horrible sounds. ¬†Thank goodness for the internet because it turned out to be an easy fix. ¬†Not even an Eagles win would have improved my mood if I had to start my day coffee free.

In other news this week, ¬†our school had a delayed opening on Tuesday thanks to the ice storm that hit the northeast Monday night. ¬†Then Friday was a half day for the students so that we staff could have one of our required in service trainings. ¬†It’s been so long since we’ve had a regular full week of school that I’m not sure I can handle it anymore. ¬†Luckily this is a three day weekend (thank you Martin Luther King Jr) making next week a short week as well, so I can put that whole thing off a little longer.

Miss Dee and I watched the whole Golden Globe thing last week and, totally avoiding any political discussion here because this is my happy place, we had fun ¬†checking out the fashions and seeing the celebrities out and about. ¬† Of course, the Oscars are really “MY SHOW” but the Globes are a good warm up. ¬†She and I really like the Netflix show “Stranger Things” so it was fun to see the cast there. ¬†It was disappointing that they didn’t win anything but there’s always next season. We pretty much binge watched seasons one and two. ¬†Miss D even subscribed to Netflix herself so she could watch. ¬†The show “Handmaidens Tale” got some attention ¬†as ¬†well as a movie title “The Shape in the Water” neither of which I ¬†have seen. ¬†There are a lot of films out that I would like to catch if only I had the time and the money! ¬†Eleven dollars for a movie ticket is a little our of my comfort zone. I am planning on going to see “The Phantom Thread” with a friend next week. ¬†It looks pretty good so I’ll let you know what I think.

Well, my coffee is gone and I guess it’s time to be productive. ¬†There are bills to pay and wash to be done. ¬†Miss Dee is the only one who has to go out to work this fine Sunday but the rest of us have a list too. ¬†Mr D has to take an hour long online course to prepare him for the online course he starts on Tuesday (ūü§Ē?) ¬†I know. ¬†We don’t get it either but it’s a requirement. So that will keep him busy for a bit and D-man, as we know, is working his way through car maintenance which is going better than expected. ¬†While I’ve been occupied here, he managed to remove and replace the headlight bulb and pump up the tire enough to take it to the garage to get a plug. ¬†So I guess all really is right with the world, or at least in our little corner of it.

Thanks for stopping by. ¬†Hope you have a great Sunday. ¬†Please make your own Coffee Share Post (hosted by Eclectic Allie) or comment below so I can hear all about what’s going on in your corner of the world!

If We Were Having Coffee…12/13/15

If we were having coffee…you would probably notice that it is warm enough to sit on the deck and visit. Strange, you might say. Isn’t New Jersey suppose to be much colder ¬†in mid December? Dang right! I’d reply a little ill tempered! Even though I’m not much of a cold weather person, I do like a white Christmas, or at the very least- a cold one and this 70 degree stuff is seriously messing with my HOLIDAY MOOD!!!

Okay. I’m better now. How was your week? Did you gets a lot done? Did you make some fun memories? I hope so!

If we were having coffee…you would notice that (except for the weather) it’s a pretty typical December Sunday morning around here. Miss Dee is still ‘asnooze working those teenage sleep genes, Mr D is off selling Christmas trees, because the only thing that trumps the “sleep gene” is the “cash gene”, and Hubby is off to the Eagles football game with his pop. I, myself, am praying that the team that showed up last week, causing the Eagles to have an unexpected win, shows up again today instead of the other Eagles team that has been massacred the rest of the season. Things are always much more pleasant around here when the Eagles win so keep you fingers crossed for me. Okay?

Other than routing for an Eagles win, I will be spending my day wrapping presents, cleaning house, and catching up on my reading.

If we were having coffee…I would share that¬†Miss Dee, who has taken to making gift by hand the last few Christmases will probably spend her day (once she rises) being crafty. She found some cool ideas on Pinterest and we spent yesterday at the dollar store and the thrift stores finding the things she needs. I really admire her thrifty nature, especially since she gets it directly from me! Her friends always love the things she makes and this year they are decorative items that will be perfect for dorm rooms if they go away to college next year

If we were having coffee…I would point out the interesting pattern of drips running down the kitchen window. This is probably the result of a 20 year old making food at 2am when his eyes are partially closed and since those drips are not going to clean themselves (although that might have a better chance of happening than the culprit cleaning them himself) I better stop my chatting and get moving!!

Thanks so much for stopping by. Hope you enjoyed your coffee! This post is part of the Weekend Coffee Share¬†brought to you courtesy of Diana at Part Time Monster. Don’t forget to stop and visit the other coll folks over there!!
